Understanding and Complying with the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act (PLFAW)

The Paid Leave for all Workers Act, which took effect January 1, 2024, makes Illinois the third state to pass a law mandating paid leave for employees for any reason.   Given the complexity of the regulation, dealers are still left with concerns on how to comply and appropriately administer this new leave requirement. This law will require most Illinois employers to offer up to 40 hours of paid leave that can be used for any reason and with limited notice given by the employee.
